  • Write Ms. Yoon a letter. Respond to the suggested questions posted here. Please write a response letter with as much detail as you are comfortable with. I can’t wait to read them and get to know you better.

    Using what we discussed and what you learned today, formulate a thesis statement about the passage’s theme(s).

    • Passage 1: Pg.13, “We loved our country as much as they;…”
    • Passage 2: Pg. 20, “Kantorek would say that we stood…”
    • Passage 3: Pg. 33, “My limbs move supplely…”

    Start developing your thesis statement by writing 3-4 sentences that describe your argument. What is your big idea? What opinion are you trying to express? What position are you trying to take? We will be evolving these sentences into a more concise and concentrated complex thesis statement.

  • Reflect on your character’s actions in the play. Write a journal post reflecting on the character’s emotional state. Do they have regrets? What have they witnessed? Who do they think is right in the conflict? or not?
  • Reflect on your position about the status of women in society. What does your character believe and give examples of this.
  • Have the two dead brothers of Antigone comment on your posts with their point of view.
  • Have Marji comment on your posts from her point of view at the end of Persepolis. (not young Marji)

  • Choose another character from the books you have read this year and have them comment on 3 different posts.
  • Answer the essential question from the perspective of your character:
    What does it mean to stay true to what you believe in during extreme circumstances and what are the consequences?
  • (2 posts) Each person in the group should choose one theme and write a post about that theme. This should be a longer paragraph post.
  • (2 posts) Each person should post up a quote from your character that really symbolizes that character’s motivation.
